Use these hints to conquer Guitar Hero 3 and make it to the top of the leader board without having to use any Guitar Hero 3 cheats.

The toughest battle you will face, by far, is Lou. He will use every trick in the book and throw some stuff at you that you have never even thought of.

One of his favorite tricks is “Lefty Flip”. This one takes most people out. If you are prepared for this trick by having a mirror pre-positioned, you can watch the screen through a mirror and the notes will be correct.

When he tries the “Broken String” attack you have to use the hand you strum with to start pushing the button as fast as you absolutely can.

Always be prepared for the “Whammy Bar”. He uses it a lot. When he gets on it you have to work yours as fast as you can.

Of course, you could use this Guitar Hero 3 cheat and battle Lou in “Expert” with “Easy” note.

1. Go all the way to the end in “Expert” mode and start the battle with Lou.
2. Pretty soon after you start the battle just start strumming without hitting any notes.
3. After you lose and get the “Game Over” screen, go to the “Tutorial” and choose “Guitar Battle”.
4. Play through the tutorial until you get the message “Lesson Complete”
5. As soon as you see the next fret board pause the game and exit to the lesson menu.
6. When you get to the lesson menu press the RED button one time to go back to the list of songs where your battle with Lou will be highlighted.
7. Choose that song. Bingo! Lou’s note chart and player will be set to “Easy”

Remember as you play, try not to miss any battle gems (these are crucial) and be sure to hit all of the notes. Don’t worry too much about extras, just don’t miss any. Don’t waste your powerups, save them for the solos at the end and try to use them to keep your opponent from getting their powerups.

Along with all of the cool improvements in the Guitar Hero 3 game itself over the old GH 2 game, there have been some significant improvements in the guitars as well. It’s obvious the players comfort and gaming experience was foremost in the minds of the developers of the new system.

Each of the available game platform’s guitar has something not shared by any of the other units but they all share the main upgrades of the Guitar Hero 3 system. While the old guitars from previous Guitar Hero issues are compatible with the new game, they don’t have these upgrades.

All Guitar Hero 3 guitars are wireless allowing for awesome freedom to jam and shred like a real Legend of Rock. All but the PlayStation 2 guitar have changeable faceplate also, so you can customize the appearance of your axe.

Each gaming platform has its own guitar. The particulars are noted below.

Xbox 360

The Xbox360 guitar is a black Gibson Les Paul design with an illuminated Xbox guide button built in. It also has an integrated headset port so you can jam away without getting yelled at.

Faceplate options – Blue Skull & Cross Bones, American Flag, White

PlayStation 3

The PS3 guitar is also a black Gibson Les Paul design with an illuminated PlayStation button and a built in Axis Accelerometer to properly activate Star Power.

Wii

The Wii guitar is a white Gibson Les Paul design. The Wii remote plugs directly into the guitar face and is carried on-board the guitar. The Wii guitar features the onboard speaker and vibration effect of the Wii remote.

PlayStation 2

The PS2 guitar is a black Kramer Striker design. The PS2 guitar does not come with any faceplate options but is wireless.
